Photograph article dated November 22, 1957 partially reads, "A crunching, speeding forest fire headed toward heavily populated San Gabriel Valley communities today. The wind-pushed flames had consumed 20,000 acres of what County Fire Chief Keith Klinger calls 'the most valuable watershed in the world.' Flames raced to within six miles north of Foothill boulevard and the communities of Duarte, Monrovia and Bradbury." Photograph caption reads, "Home blown asunder by violent winds - Neighbors check damage done by winds to home of Stan Black at 9461 Hillrose St., Sunland. Roof was sheared off and all windows and wall blown out. Black's wife Mildren was at home when windows started to go and evacuated before heavy damage was done. Couple had only lived in new home for six months. Police were called into areas of heavy damage to prevent looting."; See images #00137062 through #00137064 for all photos in this series.
