Description
Caption from July 21, 1971 Sacramento Bee reads "DANGEROUS PRACTICE - A young swimmer jumps from a small bridge adjacent to the Watt Avenue bridge into the main channel of the American River, a practice the sheriff's office has warned may be disastrous. Sacramento area rivers have claimed two swimmers already this season. The department is hoping to discourage persons from doing this and from jumping from large trees along the river. Last year two younsters died of injuries suffered when they sttruck underwater objects after dropping from makeshift rope swings on a 50-foot cottowood along the bank."
