Description
This circa 1945 photochrome color postcard shows the Governor's Mansion, located at the intersection of Sixteenth Street and H streets. Although originally painted gray to give the impression of stone, the structure was painted white with the advent of the 1940s. It was also at this time that ironwork that had bordered the mansion's roof was removed and donated as iron scrap for the war effort.
