This photograph is contained in one of two volumes by Dobbin titled "Album of San Francisco."
Text written under photo: "Post St., looking from Stockton." View looks east on Post towards the Balboa Building on Market Street. Prominent buildings in the foreground are the Shreve Building on the left and the Head Building on the right. Construction of the Fredericks Building on the left has barely started. According to "Splendid Survivors" it was completed in 1910, hence the date estimate. Pedestrians can be seen walking in the street to avoid piles of bricks and lumber. Carriages and carts are parked by the sidewalks. The tracks and overhead of United Railroads' Tenth, Post and Montgomery line can be seen.
