Description
Photograph article dated May 23, 1963 partially reads, "Just about the fanciest portable shoeshine stand you've ever seen is regularly toted up and down Lankershim Blvd. by a 13-year-old boy. There's a folding chair, with a square of carpeting in front of it, for the customer, a foam rubber knee pad for the shiner, a glass-fronted display case for 10 kinds of shoe polish, and, of course, the all-important footrest box for the shoes to be shined. The box has a built-in flashlight for after-dark work. The shoeshine boy is Phillip Brunell, a teen-age entrepreneur extraordinaire, a go-getter adept at turning pedestrians into instant customers."
