Full length portrait of young girl wearing traditional Chinese robe, slippers, and fan. One arm rests on table carrying flowers in vase, cup and saucer and object with suspended tassel - all decorated with oriental motifs.

John Baldwin arrived in California by 1874. Was active as a photographer in several cities, including Sacramento. In Sacramento operated out of a gallery on J Street in the 1880's.
