Image of the "Great White Fleet" sailing on the ocean as they head towards Los Angeles, off of the end of the Abbot Kinney Pier at Venice in Los Angeles, California.
"Venice Breakwater 'Pennsylvania' 'Maryland'" --text, on image. "14 miles from Los Angeles"--text, handwritten in ink in the front margin. Pine tree stamp on verso. Title devised by cataloger; date devised by cataloger based on the history of the visit from the "Great White Fleet" to Los Angeles in 1908. The "Great White Fleet" was a nickname for the United States Navy battle fleet that completed a circumnavigation of the globe from 1907-1909.
