The de Longpre´ residence and gardens were located on the west side of Cahuenga Blvd. at Hollywood Blvd. and constructed in the early 1890s. De Longpre´, who was born in Lyons, France, beautifully painted flowers that were grown in his extensive gardens, which at one time included 4,000 roses. A group of nicely dressed visitors pose near the entrance of the Mission Revival/Islamic style Hollywood residence and art galleries of artist Paul de Longpre´. These tourists have arrived at this popular destination via Pacific Electric's "Balloon Route Excursion" a streetcar route which ran in a balloon shaped loop between Hollywood and the West Los Angeles.
