Description
A mother and father are sitting in a parlor, teaching their children music and art. The blond little girl plays the piano. She wears a white dress with short sleeves that is gathered in at the waist. Her hair is in loose shoulder-length curls. Her mother sits next to her, looking on. The mother's hair is up in a loose bun. She wears a white blouse with a brown jacket and blue skirt. Her jacket is edged with dark brown ribbon with bows at the end of her sleeves. Her skirt is blue with dark blue pinstripes. To her right, her son sits on a footstool and sketches a work of art his father has propped up on a chair. He wears a white shirt with a plain collar and long sleeves, and over it a gray, round necked smock edged in black , with blue pants and brown ankle boots. Behind him, his father looks on. The father wears a white shirt with a gray vest, and gray jacket with light brown lapels. He has a mustache and a beard. The chairs and footstool are upholstered in red with gold fringe. The table in the background has a figurine, a bust, and a green plant on it, with a gold-framed mirror on the wall.
