Description
Scrapbook section contains pages from an article which describes "the cassolette made from the wood of Shakespeare's Mulberry tree." Article describes the container and includes images of the box's decorative detail. Article also contains a biography of David Garrick and a general survey of Shakespeare and theatre. Later page contains a certificate from officials of Stratford-upon-Avon, Shakespeare's birthplace, giving Garrick the title of burgess and the decorated box as a tribute to his theatrical fame. Pages were assembled by William Upcott. All images have been physically rotated 90 degrees to the right to be scanned but were reoriented to their original position. Image two has been scanned in physically rotated position and not readjusted.
