Description
Two women are depicted in a parlor. The woman on the left faces away and wears a deep purple bonnet with a matching feather and ribbon. Her dress is green and darker green plaid. The bodice, peplum, and center front of the skirt are edged with bias-cut self fabric ruffles. The dress is long sleeved and has a narrow white lace collar at the high neck. The woman on the left wears white gloves and holds a handkerchief in her left hand. Her bonnet is light brown with matching feathers and pink ribbon. Her dress is brown with long sleeves and is mostly covered by a mantelet. The mantelet is deep blue edged with a lighter blue pattern of oak leaves and acorns and has light blue fringe. Behind the women is a mirror with a candle sconce, a sofa, and an oval table covered with a rose brocade cloth. On the table is a small book and a multicolored shawl placed there by the woman on the left.
