Pictured in circa 2000 at Carmichael's Ancil Hoffman Golf Course at 6700 Tarshes Drive, are several wild turkeys. The fowl are the result of a 1908 effort by the California State Department of Fish and Game to introduce game birds into the area that would become the American River Parkway.
