Augie Bezmalinovich, president of the Dalmatian-American Club of San Pedro, stops with his family in front of Slavko's Poultry during the Christmas parade. The Dalmatian-American Club of San Pedro was founded in May of 1926 and incorporated in November of 1927. In 1949 it became known as Yugoslav-American Club of San Pedro, and in May 1992, the name was changed again and it became known as the Dalmatian-American Club of San Pedro. The club has over 650 members in regular, auxiliary and honorary memberships. It was built and decorated in the art-deco style and remains one of the most known buildings in San Pedro. Slavko's Harbor Poultry on Pacific Avenue is in its third generation of family ownership and has been a San Pedro landmark since 1922, when it opened its doors. Although not a sit-down restaurant, they have take-out as well as catering and locals rave about their great fried chicken and outstanding fried potato nuggets. Photograph dated December 2000.
