Buster Crabbe was a winning olympian who competed in both 1928 (bronze medalist for the 1,500 metres freestyle) and 1932 (gold medalist for the 400 metres freestyle). In the 1950s, he was a popular film and television actor, who portrayed such characters as Tarzan and Buck Rogers. USC grad Clarence "Buster" Crabbe, en route to winning the 400-meter freestyle event. Like another Olympic gold-medallist, Johnny Weissmuller, Crabbe starred as Tarzan in the movies, but he gained fame playing two science fiction heroes: Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon.
