Description
Caption from January 28, 1939 Associated Press reads "SUPER CLIPPER REACHES NEW HOME PORT - The enormous new clipper, big as a five-room house, which Pan American Airways shortly will put into trans-Pacific service, completed an uneventful flight from Astoria, Ore., Jan. 28, the first lap of its shakedown flight to Hongkong. It is shown flying over San Francisco's waterfront. In upper right background is Treasure Island, site of the Golden Gate International Exposition, and Pan American's mainland base." Caption from October 28, 1983 Sacramento Bee reads "An early four-engine Pan Am China Clipper flies over San Francisco Bay."
