2008-0855 PHOTO: ALAMEDA COUNTY: OAKLAND: PARADES, CELEBRATIONS, EVENTS, ETC.: GILMORE Views of parade down Broadway in Oakland. Gilmore Oil Company sponsored radio show, Gilmore Circus Radio Program, in 1930's and every year visited various cities with their Gilmore traveling circus of clowns, lions and balloons. View 1 (2008-0855). Street scene showing spectators lining both sides of street. Buildings include Gray's mens clothes, Scharman hats for men -- view 2 (2008-0856). Shows same street, parade includes clown, balloon figures of cat and pig -- view 3 (2008-0857). Ballon figure of bird on vehicle surrounded by clowns -- view 4 (2008-0865). Shows man in costume -- view 5 (2008-0928). Clowns followed by dog float -- view 6 (2008-0929). Pig float -- view 7 (2008-0930). Shows several floats, one of cat with small child standing in front. Partial float to left reads Gilmore Circus Parade along bottom -- View 8 (2008-0931). Shows street, parade, lion float, clowns. Photographs taken by Orville T. Blake (1620 40th Ave., Oakland, Calif.). His parents were Reo Blake Goble and Vern Goble, brothers were Marvin and George Blake. Parents and brothers show up in some of the photographs, where the family was vacationing. Gift Mr. & Mrs. Walter H. Blake, Jr. April 16, 2002.
