Description
Photograph of the Los Angeles Bicycle club gathering for a race on the west side of Spring Street between Eighth and Ninth Streets, October 1904. Adults and children wait with their bicycles on the right side of the unpaved road, in which trollycar tracks are visible. A single bicyclist rides in the middle of the street toward the camera. A billboard on the building above the riders reads "The Hub" and "Weilands". A trolly can be seen parked in the background. Other legible signs include "Powell's Bakery", "Dyeing and Cleaning Works", "W.G. Ricketts" and "Groceries".
