The exterior of the first house in Long Beach, 327 Pine Avenue at First Street, occupied in 1880 by a sheepherder and little more than a roughly hewn hut. Laundry hangs on the line attached to the back and a handmade bench sits amidst a climbing vine on the side. A picket fence separates the backyard from the front.
