Description
1989-1303. In: [Scenes of Sacramento] [manuscript] / Eugene Walter Hepting. [Sacramento, Calif. : E. Hepting, 1938?], Vol. C, leaf 41. In the foreground is a large tomb; on the bottom is written the name "IRWIN"; above that is a tombstone with more information flanked by two columns; above is a pediment topped by a fragmented second pediment; in the background more tombstones can be seen along with an evergreen on the left and bare-branched trees on the right. Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento. "13th governor of California Assumed office, Dec. 9th, 1875. Born 1827 Died 1886."
