This episode of "Inside Cal Poly Pomona" hosted by the then Director of Public Affairs, Stanley Herbert III, covers the 50th Anniversary of the university's participation in the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, CA. The episode has three distinct segments that consist of interviews with Rose Float Committee Chair Bill Hatch, Rose Float Committee Member Mike Harrington, and Ron "Mr. Cal Poly" Simons. Bill Hatch discusses both the history of Cal Poly Pomona's involvement in the parade and describes the committee responsible for float construction. Mike Harrington reveals his idea for the design of the 1998 Rose Float and discusses details about how the float was designed and constructed. In Ron Simon's interview he answers questions about the history of the California State University system and how California universities are funded. This episode also includes footage of the university's float for the 1997 parade.
