Photo--black and white: Circa 1926 portrait photo of Honoria Tuomey, Sonoma County Historian. Honoria Tuomey is the first woman who wrote the history of Sonoma County after a lifetime of teaching in Sonoma County rural schools. She was a sonoma County native, born to Irish parents who arrived in the USA in 1854. An alumna of Potter School in Bodega, Miss Tuomey's first teaching jobs were in Southern California before she returned to Sebastopol Grammar School to teach art and music. She became the principal at Marshall School in Green Valley from 1907 to 1917. She ended her teaching career where her education began, at the Potter School, retiring in 1921. Five years later, she published her seminal two volumn work, The History of Sonoma County, in 1926.
