The postcard is an artistic representation of a two missionary fathers about to be killed by a number of indigenous men. The back of the postcard is blank and contains a printed title: "Isole Salomone. Martirio del Vescovo Mons. Giovanni Epalle." ("Solomon Islands. Martyrdom of Bishop Giovanni Epalle.") The back also contains information from the publisher: "MISSIONI D'OCEANIA - Affidate al PP. Maristi -- Casa Madre dei PP. Maristi: Roma, Via Poerio 63 - Periodico Missionario: L'Araldo di Maria - Roma, Via Cernaia 14a." ("MISSIONS OF OCEANIA - Entrusted to the Marist Fathers -- Mother House of the Marist Fathers: Rome, Via Poerio 63 - Missionary Periodical: The Herald of Mary - Rome, Via Cernaia 14a.") The Marists were a Catholic missionary order.
