Description
Image of an elevated view of the ruins of the Merchants' Exchange and surrounding buildings at Wall Street and William Street in New York City engulfed by flames during the Great New York Fire of December 16-17, 1835, with the street filled with rows of firefighters, spectators, men moving cargo boxes and barrels, and some horse-drawn wagons; one building on fire has the sign "Fulton Fire Insurance Company."
"Painted by N. Calyo"--text, bottom left margin. "Engraved by W. J. Bennett"--text, bottom right margin. "Published by L.P. Clover. New York. / Entered according to Act of Congress in the year 1836 by L.P. Clover in the Office of the Southern District of New York."--text, bottom center margin.
