Description
Resolution No. 1995-24 to congratulate and extend thanks to Rod Diridon for his exemplary service on behalf of present and future residents of Santa Clara, San Mateo and San Francisco Counties as he concludes his distinguished tenure as a JPB charter member. In part, "WHEREAS, his vigorous advocacy as one of the nation's most prominent transit activists proved particularly valuable as the Joint Powers Board acquired the historic Southern Pacific rail corridor; forged an operating contract with Amtrak; extended passenger service to Gilroy in Rod Diridon's own Santa Clara County; increased trip frequencies to 60 trains per day; and developed an effective consortium to manage current operations and plan for future development..."
