Description

On the right is a photo of a Mexican miner, with a long staff in his right hand and a bucket in his left. Under photo, written in ink on board: "Patricio Avila." Adhered to bottom of board, typewritten: "Dean. S.B. Christy of U.C. College of Mines picked these men as being typical Cornish and Mexican miners at New Almaden." On back of photo of Cornish miner: Handwritten in ink: "Wm. Doidge, 1890's. Chosen by S.B. Christy, Dean College of Mines, University of California as a typical Cornish miner at New Almaden, Calif."
