Photograph caption dated April 13, 1956 reads, "Cattle dig for grub - Heavy wet mantle of snow forced cattle to dig for food along Highway 138, ten miles southeast of Gorman, as sudden snowfall covered mountainous areas down to 3,000 feet. In some places snow drifted as high as ten inches."
