Description
No, Carl Lewis didn't break Bob Beamon's world long jump record, and, yes, he did foul on four of six attempts. But he also leaped 28'7"--the fourth-best jump ever--and remained right on schedule for the Olympics to the delight of 12,000 fans at the UCLA/Pepsi Invitational. Photograph dated May 13, 1984.
