Sydindien, Madras. Bhajana Hall. Taleren/sangeren fremfører sit budskab under musikledsagelse.

Description
South India, Madras. The Bhajana Hall. A building, constructed 1895 to performance of "Song Sermons". Dr. Lazarus, after getting the idea, was also the performer. Song Sermon is a special Indian kind of sermon, with roots deep in the Hindu culture. However, changed by Christian artists it is now used in the congregations, as well. Very few Europeans, at one time, had enough language knowledge, musical abilities and understanding of Indian thoughts and ways of expression, to be able to perform this kind of a sermon. A Song Sermon may go on for hours. The speaker/singer is giving his message under musical accompaniment. The same themes are repeated again and again, in musical variations and flowery language pictures. (Dr. Lazarus is standing at the balcony).
