Description
Bennie (or Benny) the deer was said to have been the former pet of revolutionary Pancho Villa, and was given to Betty Bradley while she was visiting in Mexico with her parents. In 1929, Bennie escaped and was found wandering in Downtown Los Angeles and apprehended by police. He was "paroled" and returned to Miss Bradley with a stern warning that another escaped would land Bennie in a zoo.
Betty Bradley feeds her pet deer "Bennie" on the front lawn of her house in Beverly Hills in 1927.
