“In our off time we went up to the range or I went out shooting with Jocelyn of the railways. Here we are moving his trolley out of the way of a train.” Group portrait of men lifting a railway trolley off a line whilst a train stands in front of them. Jocelyn is probably the gentleman on the right. Lt. Irvine was stationed at the carrier hospital at Dodoma. ❧ The image is from an album chronicling the war time experiences of Archibald Clive Irvine (1893-1974) in German East Africa and Portuguese East Africa with the Royal Army Medical Corps. During this time he would meet Dr John W Arthur which in turn would lead to his missionary work at Chogoria in Kenya.
