Description
Photograph was edited for publication purposes
Youth Aliyah is a Jewish organization that rescued thousands of Jewish children from the Nazis during the Third Reich. It continues today as an organization that aids in the absorption of young newcomers to Israel, particularly from the former Soviet Union and Africa. The group also offers a second chance to Israeli youth who have been designated at risk by authorities.
Photograph caption dated January 13, 1964 reads "Mmes. Sam Melman, Burbank, chairman; Albert Novack, North Hollywood, and Robert Gray, Arleta, president, make decorations for Youth Aliyah Luncheon sponsored by San Fernando Valley East Chapter of Hadassah."
