The baby, in swaddling clothes, is strapped vertically to the papoose board which hangs on a wall covered with two Indian blankets -- both striped.The baby's feet dangle below the swaddling. The mother(?) sitting in the right foreground is turned to the baby. The mother's face is not visible. The mother is wearing a striped button-up blouse under a patterned shawl or blanket around her shoulders. Her dark hair hangs to her shoulders.
