Description
Photograph caption dated January 15, 1960 reads, "Tells Story - Arms folded, Joseph Murphy, 37, tells Van Nuys police of events surrounding fatal shooting of stepson, Richard, in family home at 4166 Nagle Ave., Sherman Oaks. Murphy, bank employe [sic] and part-time college teacher, was quoted by detectives as saying he fired three rifle bullets into boy."
