Description
Photograph of Moen Abbe, a house built and occupied by John D. Lee, Grand Canyon, Arizona, ca.1900. Lee, a Mormon Elder, was the leader in the Mountain Meadow Massacre. The rough log cabin has a section made from stones. The roof is flat and thatched. A wooden post and wire fence runs across the front of the yard in which a crude wood table stands. A child stands behind a small tree in the yard. An object resembling half of a ribbed steel drum sits near the large trees growing at left. The rocky canyon walls are visible in the background.
