Description
Ted Van Dyk discusses his book, “Heroes, Hacks, and Fools.” He begins by sharing his memories of Jean Monnet, then head of the European Commission, who discouraged him from working in politics. He discusses his role working for Hubert Humphrey during his election campaign. Van Dyk also explores President Lyndon B. Johnson as a person and as a president. He then goes on to discuss his decision to support Senator George McGovern instead of Humphrey in a later campaign. Later in the interview he shares his opinion on modern politics.
