Scope/Content: A set of four instrumental part books collecting pieces of theater music by various composers, such as Henry Purcell, John Banister the younger and Godfrey Finger, and dating from approximately 1690. Volumes are labeled "Violino: Imo, " "Violino: IIdo, " "Tenor" and "Basso cont:." A detailed description of the identifiable pieces was published by former owner and music scholar Theodore M. Finney and suggests that there appears to be a close relationship between these volumes and Thomas Britton.
