Photograph caption dated July 31, 1959 reads "Mrs. Ellen Starr, rummage sale chairman of North Hollywood Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10040 tries out old fashioned sewing machine, one of items to be featured in sale scheduled 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Aug. 7, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 8 at 6319 Lankershim Blvd., North Hollywood. Mrs. Bessie Magers holds up cookie jar."
