Photograph caption dated May 2, 1985 reads, "Nearly 800 UCLA students stage a campus sit-in seeking to force the University of California Board of Regents to sell its investments in companies that do business in South Africa. About 20 of the protesters later moved their picket lines to the Beverly Hills Hotel where John Young, president of Hewlett-Packard Co., spoke at a recognition dinner honoring the School of Engineering. The protesters claim the company does business in South Africa. The demonstrations are expected to climax at the May 16 Regents meeting in Berkeley where students from eight other UC campuses are expected to join the contingent."
