Description
Photograph of a steam locomotive in front of the Los Angeles and Independence Rail Road Terminal at Fifth Street and San Pedro Street, Los Angeles, 1875. Two lavishly decorated brick towers extend from the main building to either side of its entrance. Molding surrounds each of the towers' tall, double-paned windows, with small balconies extending beneath the second-story of each. A curving railroad track is in the foreground at right, and an old fashioned steam locomotive is parked on the tracks. Several people are standing in front of the train.
