Photograph was edited for publication purposes The West Valley Baptist Hospital located at 5333 Balboa Boulevard in Encino was also known as the West Valley Community Hospital. Photograph caption dated December 11, 1963 reads, "Mrs. Eleanor Moore, center, takes blood pressure of Kenneth Gray." The article partially reads, "Mrs. Eleanor Moore, chief of nursing at West Valley Baptist Hospital, knows a good nurse is hard to find and just as hard to retain. That's why she begins recruiting girls when they are in high school and takes a profound interest in providing them with solid prenurse training. So far, about 300 teenagers have completed her Candlelighters training program which she began in 1958...Mrs. Moore also manages the adult training program and she says all the volunteer help is sorely needed because it relieves the regular nurses for more intricate duties."
