Description
Seals and Sea Lions that are sick or have received an injury are sent to the Marine Mammal Care Center "hospital" in San Pedro for rest and recuperation. They are fed and medically treated until they are ready to return to the wild. There are frequently as many as 40-50 animals being cared for at any given time. In this photo we see two employees tending to one of these sea mammals. The Marine Mammal Care Center is located in Fort MacArthur, upper reservation, of Angel's Gate Park. Photograph dated September 2001.
