Description
Against an abstracted background of a large pink circle, a woman stands in three-quarter profile view, reading a letter and wearing an elegant dress. She has an upswept hairstyle and wears no hat or gloves. The dress is sea-foam green. The bodice is of narrow vertical pleats, accented with a pink and green scalloped lace lapel fastened off center with square brooch. The sleeves and the front section and the collar have narrow horizontal pleats. The bodice ends in a point in front and back, just below the waist, and has a black section there, deeper in the front and narrow in the back, with a band of more pleating below it. Scalloped lace ruffles adorn the snug sleeves at the wrists. A band of fabric at the bust is softly gathered around the torso. The same fabric forms the skirt of green with small black rings in a polka dot pattern. The skirt is gathered softly just below the waist and has a slight train. In the lower right of the plate is a black and white back view of the dress.
