Description: This circa-1930 photograph provides a view of the idyllic southern approaches to Folsom State Prison. In the distance is the prison’s entrance gate, built in 1902. Just to the right of the gate is the registration post. Looming above that is a guard tower. Visible are the rooftops of employee homes, also referred to as the Valley Residence.
