Photograph article dated January 11, 1961 partially reads, "The support of Vice President Richard M. Nixon may have cost a Valley attorney the job as chairman of the Republican Central Committee of Los Angeles County. Thomas W. Clarke, 12192 Laurel Terrace Dr., Studio City, declared himself interested in the post, now held by Pat Hillings, after Hillings announced he would resign. Rumors spread that Nixon's aide Robert Finch had passed word to members of the committee that Clarke was the Vice President's candidate for the job. At last week's nominating committee meeting, the Rockerfeller forces managed to block Clarke's nomination." Pictured is Thomas W. Clarke.
