Description
Letter from Douglas Perham to Mr. Don Larson dated 21 May 1957 regarding plans for an exhibit at the Cow Palace. Also discusses Ralph Heinz' donation of tubes, a frame containing the antenna weight which Admiral Byrd flew over the South Pole, and a loan of a portable engine "such as accompanied the famous Polar explorers." Added material: 1) Brochure: Highlights of the Byrd Antarctic Expedition (Tide Water Oil Company, 1930), with an image of the radio masts of Little America, "by means of which the Expedition kept in constant communication with the outside world." 2) "Dick Byrd -- Adventurer," article from Popular Science, May 1928.
