2009-1061. View of James S. Dean handing item to Billy Epperson dressed in an American Indian costume, under the name of "Swift Feathers", en route to the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge opening celebration on November 12, 1936. Photograph was taken November 9, 1936 for the Hoover-Young San Francisco Bay Bridge Commission. McCurry no.: 31966-4. Sacramento's contribution to the celebration of the opening of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge was the Progress of Transportation Pageant. The Pageant consisted of a different form of transportation leaving Sutter's Fort each day, traveling to San Francisco for the opening. Pageant was sponsored by the Sacramento Chamber of Commerce. Billy Epperson ran from Bidwell Bar to Oakland.
