Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph article dated November 4, 1950 partially reads, "Playing in a pool of water today cost the life of David Jones, 8, of 6656 Greenbush Ave., Van Nuys. Police said he was playing in a pool near a bridge construction job on Vanowen St. near Coldwater Canyon Ave. Workers pulled him from the water and tried unsuccessfully, to revive him with artificial respiration. He was the son of Mrs. Ruth Francher, 6656 Greenbush Ave., Van Nuys, by a previous marriage." Photograph caption reads, "Grief-stricken - Mrs. Ruth Francher is told by police officer that her son, David Jones, 8, drowned in a pool of water at Vanowen St. and Coldwater Canyon Blvd. Construction workmen tried to save the boy, but failed."
