Description
Samuel Reading Throckmorton, developer of Rancho Saucelito circa 1865. He built a hunting lodge in 1866 on a site that was later bounded by Linden Lane, Ethel Avenue and Montford Avenue, and named it The Homestead. This structure was later the source of the name given to the unincorporated area of Mill Valley known as Homestead Valley. There are three versions of this photograph in our collection. In addition to the one described here, MVN1396v2 is 7.5" x9.5" and MVN1396v3 is 8" x 10".
