Description
Title supplied by cataloger.; Photograph used for the weekly alternative music column Nite Flash; Photograph included in the Exhibit: From Pop to the Pit, The LAPL Photo Collection Celebrates the L.A. Music Scene, 1978-1989.
Formed in the late 1970s by preteen Steven and Jeff McDonald, their first recording sessions were financed by their paper routes. Originally part of the early L.A. punk scene, their music evolved into 70s-inspired bubblegum pop, or as they refer to their sound, "Hawthorne California Trash Rock." The band still tours and currently includes drummer Roy McDonald and guitarist Jason Shapiro.
Photograph caption dated February 14, 1989 reads, "Redd Kross: polyester thrash." Shown are Steven McDonald, left, and brother Jeff McDonald.
