Description
A man and woman, possibly the owners of the Echo Food Market, located on the corner of Echo Park Avenue and Duane Street, pose outside the market. Behind them, a few youngsters are seen painting a mural on the side wall. Theresa Powers painted the 30' x 18' acrylic mural with neighborhood youth in memory of a neighborhood friend killed in a gang conflict. The mural was dedicated at a block party held on August 23, 1997. The finished product showed a man holding a child and read: "Will we still go back to being the same way?" It has since been removed. Photograph dated June 28, 1997.
